Approved Protection Systems have the capabilities to provide very complex fire suppression systems in locations with special hazards. We are a recognized leader in special hazards protection systems, with extensive knowledge in the layout and installation of dry chemical, FM-200, Novec 1230 and CO2 systems.
Special Hazard Suppression Systems
Special hazard systems are designed for special machines or processes to minimize downtime and clean up. In many cases, these systems are designed in areas or processes where water is unavailable or water will react or cause damage, prolong clean up and downtime.
Special hazard systems are either pre-engineered or engineered. Pre-engineered systems are designed and listed by the manufacturer to be installed on specific types of equipment or process’s. Engineered systems are designed in the field by our NICET certified engineers to the manufacturers listed requirements and are typically found in larger rooms or special processes outside the design perimeters of a pre-engineered system. Engineered systems are specific to that one hazard. On completion of design, electronic drawings and flow calculations are submitted for approval.
The special hazards family consists of five types of suppression systems. They include clean agent, foam, dry chemical, carbon dioxide and water mist systems/hybrid systems.
